Clinical Experience

My professional experience has been gained in diverse settings over the past 25 years and includes work with children, adolescents, families, couples and adults:

After achieving my MSW from NYU, I worked for several hospitals in which I practiced medical psychotherapy with adults and children involved with medical illness. In 1978 I helped to write Kaiser Permanente Hospital’s first Child Abuse Protocol for use in the emergency rooms. I worked at The University of Southern California (USC) Medical School Program in which I worked with the mentally ill and homeless of all ages and trained medical students in their six- week rotation in psychiatry. This program became one of the most comprehensive programs in clinical psychiatry because the students were able to experience almost every type of diagnosed patient. Then I furthered my experience by working for The Santa Monica Hospital Rape Treatment Center. I was a Rape Intervention Counselor and an Incest Treatment Specialist, at times being “on-call” for the emergency room. I began lecturing in the community on the treatment of incest survivors, to instruct other professionals on my methods of working with this group of clients.

Relational Addiction became an interest of mine that began 20 years ago and grew into a Specialty as well. My Co-Dependency support group ( in existence for 15 years) was the most well known group in the West Los Angeles community, recognized for it’s longevity and excellent track record for helping people. I based my support group techniques upon an outgrowth of the book “Women Who Love Too Much” by Robin Norwood. I have had as many as three support groups running at once; Support group one consisted of Women only, Support group two was Co-Ed, and Support group three was Gay and Lesbian.

From time to time a group may be started up again.
